Unit 14 P1+P2

p1

Students who need a mobile phone with internet access.

HTC One X is a perfect phone for a student who needs internet. Not only is it very big, it is very fast when browsing the internet and when not. Its easy to use, you get used to it fast. It costs about £400, which isn't that much of a problem when it comes to a student who earns money. The tarrif they should get is post-pay, which weekly takes about £12 out of your bank for 300 minutes, 500 texts and Unlimited Internet access.

Self Employed builder who is new to technology and has £600 to spend on a laptop for invoicing

A good laptop is an Acer Aspire 8920G with 18.4' screen, with Windows Vista Home Premium. It is very beg, easy to use and it comes automatically with all the new versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. They will get used to this laptop very easily, and it costs about £580.

Journalist who needs an electronic tablet when on location

For this person, i would suggest the ePad. This is a tablet PC, with access to internet just as fast as a computer, and its bigger than the iPad. Also, it runs Android, so its easier to use, and when it comes to apps, it wont let you down. This is very cheep, with the cost of £120, and it has a case which makes it into a mini laptop, with a mouse and screen, so whenever they are sitting down they can use it like a laptop.

Factory worker who wants to listen to an mp3 player on the bus

For this i would suggest the Yarvik Minia MP3 player which is very small and easy to use and has buttons on it that are big and clear. It has 2GB of memory which can contain up to 600 song files and 200 video files. The best thing about this is that you can get it from the tesco website for the amazingly cheap price of £14.99.

Advantages
1. If you took out all of your paper files and burned them, you'd be amazed to see how much more free space there is in your office.
2.Going paperless means less bulky filing cabinets and less cost in paper and printing.
3.Not only will it be easier to search archives, but doing data entry work in the future is far more efficient and faster.
4.It takes a day to cut down a single tree, but years to grow it. By saying no to paper, you are saying no to the violent tree cutting system.
5.It makes everything much neater and it contributes to the environmental friendly system because you aren't wasting nature.
6.A paperless operation also enables you to better secure the data that you store. For example, you can set limits on the ammount of data that is veiwable to employees.
Disadvantages
1.Not everyone is tech savvy in making that transition to a paperless environment, especially when one is used to doing data entry in paper.
2.To achieve a 100% paperless office, one must have all systems automated flawlessly and this can cost time and money.
3.To go paperless means keeping all records electronically, which comes with an IT departments biggest nightmare concerning software and hardware issues that can disrupt work.
4.With the dawn of digital technology becomes the golden age of hackers. Going paperless means vulnerability to unauthorized third party access or even worse, data loss.
5.People mite not be getting a good wage, and may not even afford there own computer at home to catch up on work and stuff.
6.It can take a very long time to get rid of paper files, and set up all of them on the computers, but its not the worst problem.

M2
The threats and risks are things like hackers, losing files over a bad internet connection, a beginner on computers who is a good employee accidentally deletes all the files and its not her fault. Also, if you want to get rid of paper, you may get rid of a file and forget what it said, so then you are left with a massive dilemma. Uploading and using digital content is also a threat because with digital content you have can contain some files or things which are harmful to your computer. Also, talking over the internet may be bad because some colleagues may believe others are being dis-respectful to them over chat when in-fact they aren't. Another risk is company data protection, which is files dis-appearing or ending up with viruses. Copyright of images and videos is really important because if somebody who isn't part of your company sees an image/video and copy and pastes it, they may use it which isn't allowed due to copyright reasons and they may promote your ideas. Also privacy of information like details about the company and office can be unprotected if you don't use them right. Cyber bullying isn't a huge problem but still can be because some people will take the chance to annoy another colleague or bully them over the internet. Spam isn't that important, but when trying to work quickly it can be annoying because it gets in the way and its harmful but if you don't open it up it can't be. Plagiarism is a risk where people can look at your work that you have done and they can copy and paste it and take the credit for it which can be really annoying, and lastly phishing. Phishing is where a fake website will try to get details out of you, for example if someone made a fake bank website and emailed you saying you need to enter your details, you should phone your bank first and confirm they have been sending emails, and if not click off of the website.
